Add a Vehicle

Article summary

You can add new vehicles to Bringg by entering their details including model, license plate, associated vehicle proile, and default parking location. Add multiple vehicles, one immediately after another, and access all vehicles in one unified list.  
You can also create or update several vehicles at a time using APIs.

Once created, easily manage vehicles across all teams to keep records up to date, and balance teams as customer needs evolve.

 

Before You Begin

  • Confirm you have a Bringg user of type Admin, or dispatcher with the privilege Allow Dispatcher to manage vehicles.

  • Clarify the resource needs within your teams, including the volume and types of orders in each, , and vehicles in each team or fulfillment center.

  • Create vehicle profiles in Bringg or via API that you can assign different vehicles to assist with optimization.  Learn more.

  • (Recommended) Add or update parking spots via API.  Learn more.

  • Verify the details of any new vehicles, including make, model, license  plate, external ID, capabilities, and so on.

Access Vehicle Management

Select Resources > Vehicles from the platform main menu to open the vehicle management screen.  From here, you can

Step 1: Select Add Vehicle.

Step 2: Assign the vehicle to a Team

Step 3: Enter the vehicle details.

Select Show advanced fields to see all fields.

Field

Description

Name

(Required) Enter a name that helps you easily distinguish the vehicle from others in your fleet.  This may include the make or size.  For example, Small Ford Truck.

License Plate

(Required) Enter the vehicle's license plate number. This further helps distinguish vehicles from one another, and aids in searching and management.

Vehicle Profile

(Required)

A set of parameters, like weight capacity or the maximum number of orders that a vehicle type can transport at a time, that you can assign to different vehicles when to optimize your resources to create the best routes.

Note

If you select a vehicle profile with the label can attach trailer, you can then match it to its designated trailer by selecting an option under Trailer Name.

External ID

Your company’s distinct ID for the vehicle, like a serial number or other string.

Model

Enter the make and model of the vehicle. For example, Freightliner MT-45

Color

Enter the vehicle’s exterior color.

Trailer Name

Select the applicable trailer to pair with this vehicle, from those designated as trailers in your fleet.

Note

This field only displays if you assign a vehicle profile with the label can attach trailer.

Default Parking Location

Select a parking spot from among those belonging to the vehicle’s assigned team.  To add or update parking spots to Bringg, use the Parking Spots APIs. Learn more.

Company

Select the organization the vehicle serves, if they are not owned by you directly. For example, contracted vehicles have their own company in Bringg.

Step 4: To add more users, select Save and Create New. Select Create to save this user only.

Manage Vehicles

View and manage all vehicles across any of your teams from the centralized viewing screen.

Edit a vehicle’s details.

Step 1: Click on the vehicle’s name from the table.

Step 2: Choose Edit Details from the vehicle’s details page.

Step 3: Update details as needed and Save changes.

Sort vehicles to focus on those you most need to see.

Step 1: Select Filters

Step 2: Choose the filters you wish to apply.  After setting each filter, click Done to apply it.

To clear filters, select Reset Filters.

Change the team assigned to one or more vehicles.

Step 1: Select any vehicles assigned to the same team as one another.

Step 2: Select More Actions > Assign to Team

Step 3: Choose a new team.

Note

Changing a vehicle’s team assignment may impact its scheduled delivery blocks, causing potential disruptions.

Remove one or more vehicles from a single team.

Step 1: Select any vehicles assigned to the same team as one another.

Step 2: Select More Actions > Delete

Note

You can only perform bulk actions on more than one vehicle at a time if they all belong to the same team.
