Assign each profile a set of parameters, like weight capacity or the maximum number of orders that a vehicle type can transport at a time. Then match each of your vehicles to its appropriate vehicle profile when optimizing your resources to create the best routes. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a18074ef-073a-4ab1-bcab-12625715280e/Images/Documentation/devops_optimization_profile(2).png)***Create vehicle profiles in Bringg*** For example, create a vehicle profile called Large Truck that defines the capacity dimensions for trucks that can carry pallets as their primary packaging unit. Then apply this profile to all large trucks in your teams. ### Before You Begin - Confirm you have a Bringg user of type **Admin**. - Gather information about the different types of vehicles you use and need for different fulfillment needs. - Work with your Bringg representative to set your route optimization (RO) settings to align with your business priorities. [Learn more.](/v1/docs/optimization-settings-overview) ### Procedure **Step 1**: Access the vehicle profile configurations by navigating from your username > **Settings > Merchant Configuration > Vehicle Profiles** **![](https://cdn.document360.io/a18074ef-073a-4ab1-bcab-12625715280e/Images/Documentation/devops_optimization_profile_access.png)***Navigate to vehicle profile settings***** **Step 2:** Configure a new vehicle profile by selecting **Create****.** **![](https://cdn.document360.io/a18074ef-073a-4ab1-bcab-12625715280e/Images/Documentation/devops_optimization_profile_create.png)***Create a new profile***** **Step 3: Distinguish the vehicle profile by inputting the name and description.** Make sure to use terminology that will be easy to recognize when assigning the profiles to individual vehicles. For example, if you are creating a profile for an electric scooter, you can call it EV Scooter. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a18074ef-073a-4ab1-bcab-12625715280e/Images/Documentation/devops_optimization_profile_name.png)***Add a name and description*** **Step 4**: Enter the details unique to this vehicle profile. - **General info** relates to some of the vehicle profile's key distinctions like ID, category, and so on. - **Vehicle restrictions** relate to the road limitations applicable for this vehicle profile. - **Capacity restrictions** relate to the carrying capacity of the vehicle profile. | **Set as default** | Selecting this field designates the current vehicle profile as your fallback in the optimization engine. This means that the RO engine will optimize selected vehicles according to this profile if other profiles are not assigned to them. | | --- | --- | | **Vehicle external ID** | The ID you give to this vehicle profile. This is an alternative alpha-numeric way to identify it, different from the name. | | **Vehicle category** | (Required) Select the type of vehicle applicable to this profile from the dropdown menu. Depending on whether you use Bringg's advanced traffic integration, this menu will either contain Bicycle, Car, or Truck, or may have additional categories of trucks based on external dimensions. Contact your Bringg customer service representative to inquire about traffic integration or to configure these additional dimension categories. | | **Cost per route** | Insert amount it costs your business to use this vehicle profile in a shift. Enter in the applicable currency. | | ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a18074ef-073a-4ab1-bcab-12625715280e/Images/Documentation/image-1678189971963.png) **Green vehicle** | Indicate if this vehicle profile approaches net zero carbon emissions. For example, label an electric vehicle or bicycle a green vehicle. | | **Set as trailer** | Indicate if this vehicle is a trailer that does not run independently, but attaches to a motor. | | **Attaches to trailer** | Indicate if this vehicle can attach to a trailer. | | **Percent added to speed limit** | The anticipated time added to a route beyond what the speed limit predicts. RO uses this field to predict timing. For example, an entry of "1.6" would mean the vehicle type would add 60% more time to the route. | | **Max. route distance** | The maximum distance a specific vehicle with this profile can travel on a route. | | **Handling units** | Select from the menu of handling unit options whichever one applies to this vehicle profile. Handling units are your company's unique unit capacity constraints. For example, your company's standard handling units may be a particular size carton, pallet, or bag. Contact your Bringg customer service representative to define the handling unit options that display in this menu. | | **Max. handling units** | The maximum number of the selected handling units a vehicle can transport at a time. | | **Weight capacity (kg or lbs)** | The maximum weight a vehicle with this profile can carry at a time. | | **Max. order per route** | The maximum number of orders a vehicle with this profile can transport at a time. If undefined, the optimization reverts to vehicle capacity. | | **Container size (cm): Height/Width/Length** | This collection of fields defines the internal capacity dimensions of a vehicle with this profile. | **Step 5:** Generate the vehicle profile or erase it by selecting **Save** or **Cancel**. You can also start editing the profile from the beginning by selecting **Clear All**. **Step 6**: (Optional) Make further edits to, or remove, your vehicle profiles. From the list of vehicle profiles, select the horizontal menu![icon_horizontal_menu](https://cdn.document360.io/a18074ef-073a-4ab1-bcab-12625715280e/Images/Documentation/image-1683123847007.png) > **Edit** or **Delete** in the profile's listing. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a18074ef-073a-4ab1-bcab-12625715280e/Images/Documentation/devops_optimization_profile_edit.png)***Adjust or remove vehicle profiles*** **Step 7:** Assign the vehicle profile to specific vehicles in your teams. [Learn more](/v1/docs/set-up-a-team). **Step 8:** Apply vehicle profiles in RO to build optimized routes, either using the [optimization wizard](/v1/docs/create-routes-for-planned-orders-with-route-optimization) in Dispatch or Planning, or with [automations](/v1/docs/automate-workflows-with-automations). Run Bringg's route optimization (RO) to reduce costs by organizing your orders into the fastest, most efficient planned routes, where each order arrives at its destination within its designated time window. If you have an Own Fleet, RO can also assign each route to a vehicle or driver who is available at that time and has the correct skills to fulfill the orders. You can configure RO with preferences like the maximum length of a route, the time on site (TOS), the time to load the vehicle, predicted and real time traffic patterns, and so on. For example, you can ask to set route optimization (RO) to limit the number of destinations on a route, or to use the minimum number of vehicles in a route. Each time you run route optimization on the same group of orders you may well receive a different result, as there are multiple ways to organize the same group of orders into efficient routes. Instead of reshuffling all orders each time, build on your existing plans by making focused changes where they are required using the route planner. You can run RO manually or automatically at set days and times, for select teams or across the entire organization. On demand orders typically use AutoDispatch (AD) instead. A vehicle in your Own Fleet is paired with a driver to reach a destination on a route. Each vehicle has a type, capacity (maximum weight or dimensions), and you assign specific skills to each one to allow Bringg to choose the correct vehicle for each order. You can define the availability of vehicles in delivery blocks. A team groups together the people and vehicles needed to fulfill orders from a specific fulfillment center or service area. It can contain drivers, dispatchers, vehicles, and orders. For example, you can define a team as all orders and drivers assigned to a few stores in a small neighborhood. Or a team might consist of refrigeration trucks, their drivers, and orders of perishable goods. If you use carriers, you can define delivery terms to assign a team's orders to specific carrier and then use the fleet router to automatically choose the best one for each order. To fulfill an order, you must assign it to a team, then Bringg can assign it to a route and driver or to a carrier. Dispatchers only see drivers and orders assigned to their teams. If a driver belongs to multiple teams, the dispatcher or driver can choose which team to join at the start of each shift.
